Lightning's Lecavalier needs hand surgery

Published Nov. 14, 2010 12:00 a.m. ET

Tampa Bay Lightning captain Vincent Lecavalier will have surgery to expedite the healing of his broken right hand.

Dr. Tom Graham of the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland will perform the procedure on Monday. The team's original timetable of Lecavalier missing three to four weeks has not changed.

The center hurt the hand in Thursday's game at Washington. The break occurred near the knuckle of the index finger.

Lecavalier also missed a game on Oct. 18 against Dallas with soreness in the hand. He has three goals and six assists in 10 games.
