Lidstrom to have street named after him

Red Wings defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom is having a street named after him in a city about 30 miles northwest of Detroit.

The city of Novi will change Arena Drive to Nick Lidstrom Drive during a March 24 ceremony. The city announced Wednesday the event will take place at the City of Novi Ice Arena.

Lidstrom, who has won four Stanley Cup titles with the Red Wings, is a longtime Novi resident. He's been with the Detroit franchise since being drafted in 1989.

David B. Landry, the mayor of Novi, calls Lidstrom a ''local icon.''
