Leafs use OT to improve to 4-0

Clarke MacArthur scored for the fourth straight game and Phil Kessel netted the winner during an overtime power play as the undefeated Toronto Maple Leafs bounced back from a blown third-period lead and spoiled the New York Rangers' home opener with a 4-3 victory Friday night.

Just 20 seconds after Rangers defenseman Marc Staal went off for interference, Kessel scored his second goal of the game at 3:08 of overtime.

Toronto used a dominant second period to grab a 3-1 lead, but the Rangers got two goals from Brian Boyle in the third to force overtime and salvage a point.

MacArthur, who signed with Toronto as a free agent during the offseason, became the first player to score in his first four games with the Maple Leafs. His fifth goal of the season started a spurt of three Toronto tallies in a span of 5:46 early in the second that turned a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 lead.

Mike Komisarek and Kessel also scored in the second, in which Toronto held a 14-5 shots advantage. The edge was 30-12 through two periods. The Maple Leafs, who had the worst record in the Eastern Conference last season, are 4-0 for the first time since they won 10 straight to start the 1993-94 season.
