Leafs provide mixed bag of federal election voting plans
It was election day in Canada on Monday, and the federal election was an interesting topic in the Maple Leafs' locker room even if not every player was interested in voting.
"I'm not voting [Monday]," winger Joffrey Lupul told reporters. "I spent so much time in the United States in the summer, I'm just not going to make it. But I think everyone should vote. My family is voting NDP."
The 21-year-old Morgan Rielly was more interested in playing a role in what would be his first election, but Rielly told reporters he did not want to share his political views with the media on Monday. James Reimer, on the other hand, told reporters he had not paid much attention to the election and learned from reporters Monday how minority parliaments can be brought down.
The Leafs have 16 Canadian-born players on the roster, and the practice facility served as a local polling station where people could cast their vote and then stay to watch the Leafs' practice.
