The Columbus Blue Jackets have reached an agreement with the Fort Wayne Komets to serve as the NHL club's Central Hockey League affiliate for the 2010-11 season.

The Komets will also have a working agreement with the Blue Jackets' top minor-league club, the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.

The agreements were announced Thursday.

The Komets were founded in 1952 and are in their first season in the CHL. The franchise was a member of the original International Hockey League from 1952-99. It then played in the United Hockey League from 1999-2007 when the UHL took over the IHL name.
