Klesla recovering after preseason hit

Published Sep. 16, 2013 7:23 p.m. ET

Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Rostislav Klesla is resting at home a day after being wheeled off the ice following a hit by Los Angeles Kings forward Jordan Nolan.

Klesla was injured in the first period of Phoenix's preseason game Sunday night when Nolan knocked him off his skates. The hit triggered a series of fights among players on both teams and led to four 10-minute misconducts.

Klesla was alert and waving to the crowd as he was wheeled off on a stretcher. Coyotes coach Dave Tippett says Klesla was released from the hospital around 3 a.m.

Klesla suffered a concussion and whiplash and Tippett said on Monday that he was resting comfortably at home, likely with a headache.
