Junior hockey player handcuffed on ice after allegedly spitting in ref's face
Consequences for an infraction in a hockey game range from a standard two minutes in the box all the way to a match penalty.
Olivier Marcotte wasn't escorted to the penalty box following his infraction, however. Instead, the 21-year-old was handcuffed and arrested right on the ice for allegedly spitting in the face of a referee, according to Journal de Montreal.

Marcotte, who plays for the Junior AA Hockey-Experts team in Sherbrooke, Quebec, was involved in a heated argument with the referee during the third period. When the player appeared that he might drop the gloves with the official, members of the Quebec provincial police -- who were in attendance at the game -- stepped onto the ice and brought out the handcuffs.
SQ Sgt. Annie Thibodeau told the CBC that no further action will be needed unless a complaint is filed.
The league game was the final one for Marcotte, who is no longer eligible to play due to age restrictions. The 9-3 season-ending loss to Petroleum A.A. Courchesne Nicolet isn't likely what Marcotte will remember from this night, however.
