The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed left wing R.J. Umberger, suffering from concussion symptoms, on injured reserve.

He has missed the last two games after playing in a franchise-record 288 straight. His 291 consecutive games played was the fifth-longest active streak in the NHL.

The 29-year-old has seven goals and 11 assists and 12 penalty minutes 42 games with the Blue Jackets this season.

Umberger has 130 goals and 162 assists in 516 career games with Columbus and the Philadelphia Flyers, from whom he was acquired for a first-round pick (Luca Sbisa) and a third rounder (Marc-Andre Bourdon) prior to the 2008 NHL draft.
