Jack Eichel to reunite with Evander Kane as Sabres search for spark

After struggling through the first two games of a western road trip, the Sabres will look for a bit of an extra spark by reuniting Jack Eichel and Evander Kane on a line for Thursday's game against the Calgary Flames.

The move comes following struggles by both Eichel and Kane. Eichel has just two points in his last five games (a goal and an assist) while Kane has gone pointless in both games on the western road trip after posting six points (four goals, two assists) in three games before the trip.

"They had some success earlier in the season playing together," Sabres coach Dan Bylsma told reporters. "There wasn’t a lot of finish in that success but they had opportunities and I think it’s two guys that have a ton of speed and can really play off each other. There are times Jack has been the speed factor on his line. To have another element of speed next to him is good and I think Evander can feed off that as well."

Eichel has been centering a line with Brian Gionta and Jamie McGinn on the wings for most of the past few games while Kane was playing as a wing on a line with Sam Reinhart and Ryan O'Reilly of late.

The Sabres are tied with the Maple Leafs for last place in the Atlantic Division with an 11-14-3 record and 25 points. Buffalo is 3-5-2 in its last 10 games.
