Hurricanes assign Ward to AHL for conditioning
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) The Carolina Hurricanes have removed goaltender Cam Ward from injured reserve and assigned him to their American Hockey League affiliate for a conditioning stint.
Ward has missed the last 13 games with a lower-body injury. The Hurricanes' all-time leader in games played by a goaltender, wins and shutouts will join the AHL's Charlotte Checkers in Cleveland ahead of the team's game against Lake Erie on Friday.
The 29-year-old Ward is 6-7-5 this year with a 3.15 goals-against average and an .895 save percentage in 19 games this year.
