Henrik Lundqvist debuts 2014-15 mask design

Published Aug. 11, 2015 11:28 a.m. ET

The New York Rangers made it all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2013-14, so it makes sense that Henrik Lundqvist would want to honor that season on his new goalie mask for the 2014-15 season. Lundqvist debuted the design for his mask for the upcoming year on Instagram Tuesday, and the helmet bears an uncanny resemblance to the one he wore in 2013-14.

The helmet was designed by David Gunnarsson, the same man who has created goalie masks for Lundqvist in the past. Gunnarson also designed the popular "glow-in-the-dark" Lightning mask for Tampa Bay goalie Ben Bishop.

Gunnarsson will also paint a mask for New Jersey Devils goalie Cory Schneider, and that helmet will be designed by the winner of the Design Cory Schneider's Mask contest currently underway with the Devils' fanbase.
