Girl struck in face by puck at Flyers game

Published Nov. 15, 2010 12:00 a.m. ET

A young girl was struck in the face by a puck during the first period of the Philadelphia Flyers' 5-1 win over the Ottawa Senators on Monday night.

Within minutes, the girl's father carried her out of the arena. She was taken to a hospital and received several stitches. The Flyers didn't provide any other information.

She was injured when a long pass from a Senators player was deflected over the glass and hit her as she sat a few rows back. While play was stopped, Philadelphia defenseman Sean O'Donnell brought a rag over from the bench as medical crews attended to her.

The game was stopped for a few minutes.
