Garth Brooks still a hockey fan despite concert cancellations due to Cup Finals conflict
Country music fans in Tampa might want to trade in concert tickets for playoff tickets. Singer Garth Brooks was forced to cancel two shows in Tampa on June 5 and 6 due to an arena conflict with the Stanley Cup Finals on June 6, according to a statement released by Brooks on Sunday.
"On behalf of The Garth Brooks World Tour with Trisha Yearwood it is with deep regret that we must cancel the Tampa shows due to unexpected scheduling by the NHL and NBC on June 6 for the 2015 Stanley Cup Final," the statement said. "We had hoped to be able to reach an acceptable solution in the best interest of all involved but due to safety considerations it is just not possible."
According to the statement, the main issue centers on getting crews and gear for the concert in and out of Amalie Arena in time for the NHL crews and gears to set up for Game 2. The statement said all tickets will be refunded, and it noted that Brooks hopes to return to Amalie Arena for shows at a later date should there be a convenient time in accordance with both his tour schedule and the NHL's schedule.
It seems Brooks has no hard feelings against the Lightning, however, as he ended the statement by saying, "Congrats again to the City of Tampa, good luck, and we will be watching the series!!!”
