Florida Panthers sell 'Spacey In Space' shirts for charity
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) The must-have souvenir at Tuesday's Florida Panthers game?
A sweatshirt with an image of Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey's face on the front.
It started as a joke a couple weeks ago, when the Panthers issued a blue sweatshirt with ''Spacey In Space'' - his face floating in outer space - to the team's designated star of the game. After a win, that player would then hand the shirt off to someone else.
Spacey caught wind of it through social media, and whatever ''Spacey In Space'' means remains a mystery. Players have kept their fascination with it a closely guarded inside joke.
''I can't tell you why we got that jersey,'' Panthers forward Aleksander Barkov says, ''but it's a pretty funny thing.''
The shirts are $40. Proceeds go to the Florida Panthers Foundation and the Kevin Spacey Foundation. They went on sale at Panthers' games Tuesday.
