Flames' Sutter arrested after bar fight

Published Nov. 11, 2010 12:00 a.m. ET

Calgary Flames forward Brett Sutter was briefly jailed on suspicion of assault after getting into a fight outside a Scottsdale bar.

Police say the 23-year-old Sutter was taken into custody early Thursday after he allegedly punched an unidentified man as the two were leaving the American Junkie bar at closing time. Police say it remains unclear what led to the fight or whether Sutter knew the man, who wasn't seriously injured.

Phoenix TV station KSAZ says Sutter was released on bond about an hour after his arrest.

There was no immediate comment Thursday from the Flames against possible disciplinary action against Sutter, who has one assist in four games since being recalled from the minors.

The Flames have been practicing in Scottsdale as they prepare for Friday night's game in Glendale against the Phoenix Coyotes.
