Flames acquire forward Westgarth from Hurricanes for Nemisz

The Calgary Flames acquired forward Kevin Westgarth from the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday for minor league forward Greg Nemisz.

Westgarth, in his fifth NHL season, has no points this season in 12 games with the Hurricanes. Overall, he has played in 133 NHL games with Los Angeles and Carolina, posting three goals, six assists and 202 penalty minutes.

Nemisz had five goals and four assists in 32 games this season with Abbotsford of the American Hockey League. He will report to the Hurricanes' AHL team, the Charlotte Checkers.

The Flames selected Nemisz with the No. 25 pick in the first round of the 2008 draft. In four professional seasons, he has played in 15 NHL regular-season games with Calgary and has one assist.
