The Anaheim Ducks have re-signed center Saku Koivu to a two-year, $5 million contract.

Koivu agreed to the deal Thursday on the first day of free agency.

He had 19 goals, 33 assists and a plus-14 rating with the Ducks last season, his seventh straight 50-point campaign. Koivu spent his first 13 NHL seasons in Montreal, where he was the Canadiens' captain for 10 years.

Koivu meshed well in Anaheim with fellow Finn Teemu Selanne, who hasn't decided whether he'll return for another season with the Ducks. The veteran forwards played together on Finland's Olympic team in Vancouver.

Anaheim also signed Finnish defenseman Toni Lydman earlier Thursday.
