OTTAWA -- The Anaheim Ducks rallied from a three-goal deficit in the third period and went on to defeat the Ottawa Senators 4-3 in overtime on Saturday night at Canadian Tire Centre.
Rickard Rakell scored the winner at 2:38 of overtime, improving Anaheim's record to 41-23-10. The Senators dropped to 34-33-9.
Ryan Getzlaf, Jacob Silfverberg and Hampus Lindholm had the other goals for the Ducks. Mike Hoffman, Erik Karlsson and Chris Neil scored for the Senators.
Craig Anderson stopped 35 shots in the Ottawa net and Frederik Anderson made 29 saves for Anaheim.
The Senators dug a hole when former Ducks player Bobby Ryan took a double high-sticking minor against Shea Theodore with 3:20 left in overtime. The NHL's No. 1-ranked power play converted when Rakell fired a wrist shot from the slot that went over Anderson's shoulder.
The Ducks started their comeback at 5:43 of the third period when Getzlaf took a pass from Jamie McGinn before firing a shot over Anderson's stick-side shoulder.
Silfverberg cut the deficit to one when he received a pass from Cam Fowler and beat Anderson with a quick shot 8:29 from the end of the third period.
The Ducks tied the score with 57.2 seconds remaining in regulation as Lindholm swatted in a rebound after Anderson stopped a shot by Corey Perry, with Andersen on the bench in favor of an extra attacker.
Karlsson's 14th goal of the season just 39 seconds in the second period put the Senators in front by two. Jean-Gabriel Pageau set up the goal with a quick backhand pass through the slot to Karlsson, who one-timed a shot past Andersen.
Neil put the Senators ahead 3-0 at 16:28 of the second period when he fired in a pass from Nick Paul, who battled past Ducks defenseman Josh Manson to pick up the loose puck. The goal was Neil's fourth of the season.
The Senators opened the scoring at 19:12 of the first period when Bobby Ryan sent a backhand pass from the left wing to Hoffman, who flipped a shot past Andersen. The goal was Hoffman's 27th of the season, equaling his total last season as a rookie.
Ryan was the best player on either side in the opening 20 minutes. He also set up Mika Zibanejad for a close-in chance and rung a shot off the post.
The first period included a couple of lively fights. Clayton Stoner went toe to toe with Senators veteran Chris Neil, and Corey Perry followed up a two-handed chop by dropping the gloves with Curtis Lazar.
