Top Picks:

Apr 9, 2016; Columbus, OH, USA; Columbus Blue Jackets right wing Cam Atkinson (13) reacts to scoring the game winning goal against the Chicago Blackhawks in the overtime period at Nationwide Arena. The Blue Jackets won 5-4 in overtime. Mandatory Credit: Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

Cam Atkinson – CLB (W) – $5100

The Blue Jackets will welcome in the visiting Boston Bruins, to kick off their 2016 – 2017 season. This is a favorable spot for Columbus as their currently -130 favorites with a total of 5.5. Cam Atkinson is my favorite player from this game, and may possibly be my favorite play of the night.

Atkinson will be playing on the first line as well as skating with the first power play unit. Atkinson has an attractive fantasy floor, due to his ability to get shots on net. In even strength situations, Atkinson fired off 164 shots and had a iCorsi/60 of 15.74, last year.

Brandon Pirri – NYR (C) – $2500

Brandon Pirri is priced down on DraftKings since he’ll be playing on the fourth line. However his value comes from his opportunity to play on the top power play unit. As of now, it looks like the Rangers will run 4 forwards on the power play, giving Pirri a boost in upside for a very cheap price.

    Eric Staal – MIN (C) – $4800

Tonight will be our first look at Eric Staal in Minnesota, since coming over from the Rangers. Staal will be centering the first line between Zach Parise and Charlie Coyle. This line will also function as the team’s top power play unit. Staal is another player that will throw pucks on net, helping solidify a sufficient fantasy floor. Last year, in even strength situations, Staal amassed 156 shots and an iCorsi/60 of 14.90. Given that the first line should stay intact when on the power play, they also provide an intriguing stacking option.

    Noah Hanifin – CAR (D) – $3900

The 19-year-old defenseman and the Carolina Hurricanes will travel north to Winnipeg to take on the Jets. Given the Vegas total and money line, Noah Hanifin is priced down below the $4000 mark. Hanifin will be the third defensive pairing for Carolina, but will be playing on the top power play unit. Hanifin was able to get his feet wet in his first NHL season last year, and I’d be on the lookout for steady progression this year. If you’re looking to pay down on the back-end tonight, Hanifin could be a viable option.

Other to consider: Alex Ovechkin, T.J. Oshie, John Carlson, Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, Brock Nelson, Marcus Johansson, Zach Parise, Frans Nielsen
