Dougie Hamilton addresses Boston media for first time since trade

Former Bruins defenseman Dougie Hamilton will get reacquainted with his old team Friday night when the Bruins travel to Calgary for a game against Hamilton's Flames, and Hamilton had a chance to get reacquainted with the Boston media on an off-day Thursday.

Hamilton's divorce from the Bruins was not entirely smooth. Fans were shocked by the trade of the young defenseman slated to be the leader of the blue line in the future, and the media published reports that Hamilton was not well-liked by his teammates.

But Hamilton told reporters Thursday he has no regrets over how his time in Boston ended.

"No, not really," Hamilton told reporters when asked whether he had regrets about how he left Boston. "I never really went through something like that, but looking back I really wouldn’t want to change anything. I’m happy with my whole career, my time in Boston and my time so far in Calgary."

Hamilton, the ninth overall draft pick of the 2011 NHL Draft, was traded to the Flames during the 2015 Draft for a 2015 first-round pick and two 2015 second-round picks. He signed a six-year, $34.5-million extension with Calgary just days after the trade.

But Hamilton has not played well to start his Calgary career. The defenseman has six points (three goals, three assists) in 25 games for the Flames, a number which is way off his pace of 42 points in 72 games last season with the Bruins. Hamilton also has a minus-6 rating through his first 25 games with Calgary.
