Don't be concerned about Andersen's play

Published May. 27, 2015 12:32 p.m. ET

Frederik Andersen hasn't really been himself lately.

Just last game, Andersen surrendered four goals, including two within the last 1:50 of the game. And they weren't pretty goals. In fact, when Jonathan Toews desperately flung the puck from the corner for the game-tying goal to send the game into overtime, he was almost standing behind the net.

In the previous game, Andersen wasn't much better. He gave up five goals on 40 shots in the Ducks loss.

Over the past two games, Andersen's save percentage is just .867.

That's not good, but Andersen actually has been extremely good all through the playoffs. In Game 1 through Game 3, Andersen had a .957 save percentage, losing just one game in overtime.

This is a noticeable trend for Andersen. If we look at Andersen throughout the entire playoffs, his .925 save percentage is good for second among goaltenders that remain in the playoffs, behind just Henrik Lundqvist, who has a .928 save percentage. And Andersen is even better at even strength 5 on 5, leading all goaltenders that remain in the playoffs with a .948 save percentage.

On top of all of this, Andersen has been nearly unstoppable when he plays in Anaheim, recording just a single home loss in the playoffs over his entire career (and even that required an overtime).

So while he hasn't looked spectacular his last couple of games, there is no need to panic.
