Devils sign defenseman Seth Helgeson to 2-year contract

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) The New Jersey Devils have re-signed defenseman Seth Helgeson to a two-year contract.

General manager Ray Shero announced the deal Saturday, noting that Helgeson got a two-way deal this season and a one-way contract in 2016-17.

Helgeson will $575,000 if he plays in the NHL next season and $75,000 in the minor leagues. His contract for the following season is $600,000.

The 24-year-old Helgeson is entering his third full year with the Devils after playing at the University at Minnesota. He split last season between Albany and the Devils, playing 49 games in the AHL and 22 in the NHL.

Helgeson was New Jersey's fourth choice in the 2009 draft.
