The Phoenix Coyotes have signed defenseman Chris Summers, one of their two first-round draft picks in 2006, to an entry level contract.

Terms were not disclosed.

Coyotes general manager Don Maloney says the 22-year-old Summers will report to the team's AHL affiliate in San Antonio.

Summers just finished his senior season at the University of Michigan, where he was team captain and had four goals and 12 assists in 40 games. In his four-year career with the Wolverines, Summers had 16 goals, 44 assists, 191 penalty minutes and a plus-66 rating.
