The Detroit Red Wings will be without forward Danny Cleary for at least a month after he broke his left ankle on a shot attempt by a teammate Sunday night in Minnesota.
The team has recalled forward Jan Mursak from Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League to take his place. Mursak arrived in Denver on Monday morning and participated in the team's skate. He will be making his NHL debut against Colorado on Monday night.
Cleary was injured in the third period against the Wild when a shot from Brad Stuart struck his ankle. Cleary scored his team-leading 16th goal earlier in the game.
Kris Draper says the injury to Cleary is a ''big blow for our hockey team.'' The Red Wings already are without Pavel Datsyuk (hand) and Mike Modano (wrist).
