Chicago Blackhawks Vs Philadelphia Flyers TV Listings, Predictions, And More

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The Chicago Blackhawks take on the Philadelphia Flyers today, and they will be battling for 2 points during a rare noon start which makes for an early night for all of us.

One funny thing to me is reading all the tweets and posts about people complaining about a noon Saturday start today, but they are probably the same people who come April and May are complaining about the late West Coast start times. You can’t keep everyone happy all of the time.

Anyways, the Chicago Blackhawks are on top of the NHL and Western Conference with 35 points, but it hasn’t been easy for them on the road with them sporting a 6-5-1 record away from the United Center.

One explanation for the record on the road has to be the youth on the roster, and another reason has to be the fact that they have been missing Jonathan Toews since the tail end of the circus trip.  They will be missing Toews again today as he was placed on injured reserve yesterday to make room for Trevor van Riemsdyk.

The biggest noticeable stat without Toews in the lineup has to be at the faceoff dot.  The Hawks have been struggling mightily on faceoffs without 19 in the lineup winning barely 30 percent of all draws.  This could be huge come today on the road today where winning draws is important especially in your own zone trying to kill penalties.

Corey Crawford is in net today, and he’s off to one of his best starts of his career which has been needed while the Hawks roster continues to grow and build.

The Hawks face the third best powerplay in the NHL with Claude Lemieux and Wayne Simmonds leading the way.  The key for the Hawks today should be to stay out of the penalty box or this could be a very long early afternoon for the Chicago Blackhawks.
