Chicago Blackhawks Morning Links- Fantasy Time

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Good morning Chicago Blackhawks fans! The newest rankings of the Top 200 fantasy hockey players was released on Friday by NHL.com and guess who was there at the top of the list this year?

I must say even though I write a blog about the Chicago Blackhawks for FanSided for almost 5 years now, I’ve never even thought of joining a fantasy hockey league! I’ve been in baseball, basketball, and well of course just about everyone does fantasy football, but hockey just seems to involved kind of like baseball to really enjoy it.

That being said during the final fantasy football drafts will be taking place this weekend, the NHL put out it’s Top 200 fantasy hockey players list for the 2016-2017 and well of course it was filled with Chicago Blackhawks.

The top spot this year wasn’t Sidney Crosby, but it was the reigning Hart Trophy winner Patrick Kane.  Kane was to NHL’s top point getter and the only one last year to collect over 100 points.  Kane’s mission will be to try and duplicate what he did last season with Artem Anisimov and Artemi Panarin and that’s what the rankings are predicting.

Even though he had a down year, I’m surprised that Jonathan Toews is ranked so low at #63 while Corey Crawford comes in at #38.  Crawford always seems to be poised for a career year and then he has a hiccup month so maybe this is the season he puts it all together.

The second highest ranked Chicago Blackhawk was Panarin at #25.  Panarin had a good beginning and end to the season, will him and Kane come up with something other than the total cross ice one timer this season and throw the defenses off who caught up to the play late into the season.
