Chicago Blackhawks Morning Links- Dynamic Duo

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Good morning Chicago Blackhawks fans! The Chicago Blackhawks were back at practice on Thursday, and Joel Quenneville put back together his dynamic duo so we will see if this will jump start Jonathan Toews season.

The Chicago Blackhawks Captain Jonathan Toews has traditionally been a slow starter so him only picking up two goals in the first 7 games of the season shouldn’t be that big of a surprise.

The surprise to me is that Coach Q is putting Toews back with Patrick Kane in the eight game of the season. This combination usually points to the fact that Coach Q is starting to panic.  Speaking of panic, Richard Panik will be the other wing on the top line of Kane and Toews.

My problem with this move is the breaking up of the 2nd line which is the best line or one of the best lines in the NHL.  Now instead of Kane, it will be Marian Hossa on the 2nd line with Artemi Panarin and Artem Anisimov.  I’m not sure how the old grizzled vet Hossa fits on this line, but maybe Coach Q has seen something that points to success.

All the line switching makes one feel real uneasy about the feel that Joel Quenneville has on the team this year. Sure he likes juggling lines and keeping Patrick Kane out there for long stretches of times, but putting Toews and Kane back together is a odd one 8 games in.

That being said lines like Tyler MotteNick SchmaltzRyan Hartman need to hold their own on a nightly basis or this season will get extremely long pretty quickly no matter how productive the top lines become.
