Capitals trade center Fehr to Jets

Published Jul. 8, 2011 11:12 p.m. ET

The Winnipeg Jets acquired center Eric Fehr from the Washington Capitals on Friday for a fourth-round draft pick in 2012 and prospect Danick Paquette.

The 25-year-old had spent his entire NHL career in Washington after being drafted 18th overall in 2003. He scored two goals in the Capitals' 3-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins in last season's Winter Classic at Heinz Field.

Fehr is a native of Winkler, Manitoba, who had 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists) in 52 games for the Capitals last season.

Prior to that, Fehr played in his home province for the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings.

In the past week, the Jets signed Winnipeg natives Jason Gregoire and Derek Meech along with Rick Rypien and Mark Flood, two former members of the AHL's Manitoba Moose.
