Canadiens say Markov will miss game

Published Nov. 15, 2010 12:00 a.m. ET

Montreal says top defenseman Andrei Markov will miss the Canadiens' next game with a lower-body injury.

The team said Monday that tests will be conducted this week. The oft-injured star appeared to hurt his right knee in an awkward spill during Saturday's 7-2 win over Carolina.

Markov had offseason surgery on that knee and punched the boards in frustration after he fell into them following a hit by Eric Staal. The Russian favored his right leg as he was helped off the ice.
