Canadiens recall All-Star game MVP John Scott from minors

MONTREAL (AP) All-Star MVP John Scott has been recalled from the minors by the Montreal Canadiens.

The rugged left wing created a buzz in the NHL when he was playfully voted in by fans as captain of the Pacific Division team for this year's All-Star game.

The 33-year-old Scott originally was not scheduled to appear in the game because the Canadiens, after acquiring him from Arizona, sent him down to the American Hockey League. But the NHL reversed course and Scott didn't disappoint, earning MVP honors in Nashville, Tenn.

Scott was obtained from the Coyotes along with defenseman Victor Bartley on Jan. 15 for Jarred Tinordi and Stefan Fournier. Scott was immediately assigned to the AHL.

The Ontario native had two goals and two assists and was a minus-3 in 27 games for the IceCaps. The 6-foot-8 enforcer also accumulated 85 penalty minutes.
