Canadiens' Gorges to miss rest of season

Published Jan. 6, 2011 12:00 a.m. ET

Canadiens defenseman Josh Gorges will miss the rest of the season with a right knee injury.

It's another blow for Montreal, which already lost star defenseman Andrei Markov for the year with a knee injury.

General manager Pierre Gauthier announced Thursday that Gorges will undergo surgery. The 26-year-old Gorges had one goal and six assists in 36 games this season.

Gauthier says Gorges was disappointed with the news and had hoped to come back this season.
