Cam Neely on Bruins' effort: It's 'not where it needs to be'
Bruins president Cam Neely had some sharp criticism for his team while making his weekly appearance on the Felger and Mazz radio show on Thursday. The Bruins lost in a shootout to the Oilers, 3-2, on Wednesday night, and Neely said he was not happy with the team's effort.
"It wasn't where it needed to be," Neely said on the radio. "It was at 55 minutes into the game, but prior to that, [the effort was] not where it needs to be to win hockey games in this league."
The Bruins needed a late comeback to push the game against the Oilers into overtime, as Zdeno Chara scored the game-tying goal 16:39 into the third period. But Boston was never able to net a go-ahead goal and had to settle for just one point from the game. It was a disappointing result for a team that had been looking better recently.
The Bruins are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games and shot up to fourth place in the Atlantic Division, but the Florida Panthers are hot on their heels with an equal number of points (28) but a worse record. The Bruins stand at 13-8-2 while Florida is 12-9-4.
