Buffalo Sabres Game Day: Sabres Still Searching For First Home Win
The Buffalo Sabres need to salvage the month of October; picking up their first win at home is a good start.
Before the 2016-17 season turned to crap, I was hoping that the Buffalo Sabres could make things more enjoyable for the hometown fans.
After all, the Sabres were 16-19-6 at home in 2015-16 – not exactly a reason to refrain from selling your tickets on Stub Hubbard, now is it?
Sadly, the Sabres are up to their same old tricks, looking like a collection of beer-league players in 4-1 and 4-0 losses at home to the Montreal Canadiens and Minnesota Wild, respectively.
Is there asnowball’s chanel in H-E double hockey sticks this team can play some respectable hockey against the Florida Panthers tonight and give the fans a reason to go home happy drunk?
Sure! Why not? Let’s still pretend things are gonna be OK!
Here are the keys to a Sabres victory today.
1. Continue generating shots.
Getting shots on goal was not a problem against the Wild; Buffalo managed to hit Devan Dubnyk with rubber 38 times on Thursday.
Of course, the key phrase is “hit Devan Dubnyk” – you’re not going to score if you aim for the big guy standing in between the pipes.
Maybe the Sabres will aim for open spaces today!
2. Duct tape Anders Nilsson to the goal.
Shoot, it worked for the Mighty Ducks. Nilsson gave up a few goals on bad angle shots Thursday. He needs to block those babies, and if it takes some duct tape, I say go for it.
3. Buffalo’s best players need to earn a paycheck.
Ryan O’Reilly. Kyle Okposo. Sam Reinhart. Y’all gotta wake up and give us something. Don’t make us call for the dreaded healthy scratch approach!
The Buffalo Sabres need a win to delay the tank talk. Tune in at 1 p.m. to see if there is any fight in this team!
