Buffalo Sabres at Florida Panthers: Pregame Chatter
The Buffalo Sabres failed to show up in Carolina; can the team re-focus on playing hockey in the Sunshine State?
The Buffalo Sabres are notorious for not playing good hockey in Florida, especially during the cold winter months. Who knows, maybe they think they are on vacation; especially with it being in the 20s and snowing in Buffalo, a trip to Miami where it is 80 and sunny is always welcome. I don’t blame the boys in blue and gold if their minds are in South Beach, the golf course, or the place with the Mouse.
However, they are on a work assignment, not vacation. With that being said, do I think the Sabres have a chance at beating Jaromir Jagr and the Florida Panthers? Yes! This is not the same Panthers team that surprised everyone by winning the Atlantic Division last season. Of course the Sabres have a shot, but it depends if they feel like showing up and playing…a whole 60-minute game.
The Sabres have proven that they can shut down top players. We saw it in the Edmonton games where Conner McDavid was a non-factor and the games against the Washington Capitals where Alex Ovechkin was off the scoring sheet (though he did grab an assist during one of the games).
So, with that being said, if the Sabres can tie up Jagr, they have a chance to win the game. With a healthy Jack and a Molsoun scoring on the power play, the Buffalo Sabres have a good shot at winning the game. The goaltending has been outstanding, too! Cross your fingers I didn’t just jinx them there.
And lastly, for the record, Jaromir Jagr is the last active hockey player still playing from that classic EA Sports NHL94 video game. It will be a sad day when the ole mullet-wearer retires.
