Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic has been fined $2,500 for throwing a punch at Atlanta Thrashers defenseman Freddy Meyer.

The Bruins said on their website Sunday that Milan also will be fined $1,000 for his obscene gesture at the Thrashers bench. General manager Peter Chiarelli says Milan was to join the team on the Sunday flight to Florida and be available for Monday's game against the Panthers.

In the Thrashers-Bruins game Thursday, defenseman Andrew Ference jumped Atlanta's Freddy Meyer after he took out Lucic with a high hit. Ference left his gloves behind as he charged Meyer for a fight that sparked several others.
