Brodeur activated, will back up Hedberg

The New Jersey Devils have activated goaltender Martin Brodeur a little less than two weeks after he sprained his right knee in Montreal.

Brodeur will back up Johan Hedberg for the Devils' home game against the New York Rangers on Friday night.

Devils coach Jacques Lemaire would not say when Brodeur will play, but the goaltender indicated that he probably will not play in Carolina on Saturday night.

New Jersey sent goaltender Mike McKenna to Albany of the AHL to make room on the roster.
