Adam Reasoner is a bond trader in New York City, but on Tuesday, he also stopped shots as an NHL goalie.
In New York to play the Rangers, the Florida Panthers faced a goaltender shortage at practice with Scott Clemmensen injured. So Panthers center Marty Reasoner suggested a possible replacement —his younger brother, Adam.
"It was kind of a last-minute thing," Marty Reasoner told NHL.com. "It was probably almost 10:30 when I realized we didn't have a goalie going out, so I said, 'Hey, I know a guy pretty well who might be able to fit in.'
"So I gave him a call and texted him. It was a pretty impressive turnaround. He was here in a half hour."
Adam Reasoner, who spent three seasons with the Bay State Breakers of the Eastern Junior Hockey League and played one game at Boston College, had no problem grabbing his gear and heading to Madison Square Garden.
"When I got the text and the missed phone call, I knew something was up," Adam Reasoner told NHL.com. "My boss said it was slow on the trading floor and an opportunity of a lifetime. There'll be good stories on the floor after lunch."
The fill-in ended up spending 30 minutes on the ice taking shots from the Panthers' players, including his big brother.
"It was fun. It was exciting to get him out here," Marty Reasoner said. "I'm almost eight years older, so I never got a chance to play or skate together. This was a pretty cool experience."
