The NHL has suspended Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Jan Hejda two games for elbowing Chicago forward Marcus Kruger in the head.

Hejda received a two-minute elbowing minor on the play during the second period of the Blackhawks' 4-3 shootout win Friday night.

He will miss the Blue Jackets' game Sunday against St. Louis and Tuesday versus Dallas. Hejda is eligible to return Friday night at Nashville.

He will lose $21,505 in salary, which will go to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

The NHL announced the discipline Saturday.
