Blackhawks RW Kane injured early against Flames

Published Dec. 6, 2010 3:35 a.m. ET

Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane was forced out in the opening minute of Sunday night's game against Calgary by an undisclosed injury and didn't return.

Just 46 seconds in, the star right winger spun and fell awkwardly along the right wing boards while he was trying to avoid a check by Flames defenseman Cory Sarich. Kane skated off the ice with assistance and was escorted to Chicago's dressing room.

''Kaner probably will be out a little bit. We'll know more (Monday),'' Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said after Chicago's 4-2 victory over Calgary.

Quenneville added he didn't know how long Kane will be sidelined.

''It's tough to say,'' he said. ''It's nothing real serious.''

Since joining the Blackhawks in 2007 after being chosen with the No. 1 pick in the NHL draft, Kane has missed only two games. He sat out twice in January 2009 because of an ankle injury.
