Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Michal Rozsival has undergone surgery on his fractured left ankle and should return in 3-4 months.

The team termed the procedure successful on Tuesday and said the 36-year-old veteran should return to ''full hockey activities'' in 12-16 weeks.

Rozsival was hurt when he lost his balance and fell backward in the second period of Chicago's 4-3 series-ending victory at Minnesota.

After struggling for much of the season, Rozsival had an assist and a minus-two rating in 10 playoff games. David Rundblad, who has never appeared in an NHL playoff game, is expected to take Rozsival's place when the Blackhawks open the Western Conference finals against top-seeded Anaheim.
