Acton sends Oilers past Jets 2-1
Will Acton scored the winner and the Edmonton Oilers won their third consecutive preseason game, 2-1 over the Winnipeg Jets on Monday night.
Jesse Joensuu also scored for the Oilers, who didn't dress many of their top offensive threats.
Chris Thorburn replied for the Jets, who have lost three straight.
The Jets got on the board with 58 seconds left in the first period when Thorburn's shot hit the stick of Oilers goalie Devan Dubnyk and deflected into the net.
Edmonton tied the game 2:39 into the middle period when Tyler Pitlick put the puck in front of the net for a hard-charging Joensuu to direct past Jets goalie Edward Pasquale. It was Joensuu's third goal of the preseason.
Acton then deflected Anton Belov's point shot through Pasquale's legs 9:22 into the second.
Dubnyk made 28 saves and Pasquale had 21.
