Whatever is going on with the Giants and Tom Coughlin is getting weird

So in the "this isn't awkward at all" department, former Giants head coach Tom Coughlin flew down to the NFL Scouting Combine with his replacement, Ben McAdoo, on the same plane.

Coughlin isn't coaching an NFL team, but he's going to be in Indianapolis for the NFL's "Madden Committee," which is the coaches' subcommittee of the competition committee.

The Giants have also offered Coughlin a position as a consultant, which complicates matters even more, since the 69-year-old has admitted he's having trouble adjusting to life after football.

This just seems like an odd turn events for the Giants. Your old coach who stepped down (but seemingly was forced out) is flying with your new coach on the same plane to Indy, while deciding whether or not he wants a role with you in the front office. This may be the oddest coaching divorce in recent memory.

"Not well, not very well, to be honest with you," Coughlin said of how he's handling the transition earlier this month. "It's a difficult thing; I don't care who you are, or how long you've been doing it -- (and) I've been doing it a long time. You get yourself into the rhythm. Your whole life, your calendar of your life is based on football, about the seasons. Whether it's in season or out of season you have a schedule that you follow. So, there's some adjusting for me to make."

Coughlin flirted with the 49ers and Eagles when they had vacancies, but both teams ultimately went in another direction.
