WATCH: This fake punt helped Lions make 4th-quarter comeback vs. Bears

The Detroit Lions needed a spark with time running out in the fourth quarter against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Down by seven and facing a fourth-and-two in their own territory, Lions head coach Jim Caldwell called for a fake punt.

That's when safety Isa Abdul-Quddus took the direct snap around the left edge for 30 yards and a fresh set of downs.

The trick play was only the beginning of the late-game theatrics in this NFC North showdown.

The fake point kept Detroit's drive alive long enough for them to kick a field goal and cut Chicago's lead to four points. On their next possession, the Lions took the lead on a six-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Stafford to Calvin Johnson.

The Bears countered with a game-tying field goal as time expired to force an overtime period. The excitement finally came to an end when Matt Prater hit a 27-yard field goal with 3:54 left in overtime, lifting the Lions to a 37-34 win -- Detroit's first of the season.
