The Washington Redskins decided to bolster there tight end position on Monday by adding injury plagued Anthony McCoy. He was cut from the Seattle Seahawks who have suffered from torn achilles injuries in each of the last two seasons on Monday.

Anthony McCoy was a sixth round pick for the Seattle Seahawks in 2010. The signing doesn’t come at a shock since the Washington Redskins where in such a need for more depth at tight end, but the injury issues could be a concern for McCoy.

McCoy played two full seasons in 2011 and 2012. He caught 31 passes for 437 yards with 3 touchdowns. This signing may not be flashy but with Jordan Reed’s injury issues, the depth at the position is needed. Anthony McCoy will be best used in two tight end sets where he is more of run blocking tight end.
