Travis Benjamin Just Made the Catch of the Year (Video)
San Diego Chargers receiver Travis Benjamin submitted a strong Catch of the Year candidate with a remarkable one-handed touchdown grab.
Travis Benjamin is playing a hugely important role for the San Diego Chargers in the 2016 NFL season. While he was always going to be involved after signing in free agency, his role changed early on. With the early-season injury to Keenan Allen, Benjamin was put into a position where he was the de-facto No. 1 guy for Philip Rivers. He looked the part on Sunday against the Denver Broncos as he made arguably the Catch of the Year.
Trailing the Broncos by 10 points, Rivers and the Chargers needed to find paydirt in a big way. Rivers, who had turned the ball over three times by the third quarter, gunned the ball into the end zone looking for Benjamin. However, the pass was tipped and just inches away from being his fourth pick of the day.
Instead, the ball kept flying and Travis Benjamin somehow had the wherewithal to get his right hand up and haul in a bobbling one-handed catch that looks impossible no matter how many times you roll it back:
What a catch, @TravisBenjamin3!
One-handed. In the end zone.

Everything about that catch is tremendous. Obviously bringing it down with one hand is great, but how about the concentration to not lose it after it’s tipped or getting down just inbounds so the score counts? What a marvelous effort from Benjamin.
The Chargers could’ve pulled within a field goal, but the extra points was blocked by Denver. Subsequently, the Chargers went on after the fantastic play trailing the home Broncos by four points.
