Titans add LB Tavai to active roster

Tennessee Titans linebacker J.R. Tavai, who was added to the team's active roster on Saturday, made his NFL debut in Sunday's 30-8 loss to the New York Jets.

Tavai, a rookie free agent from USC, was credited with a tackle against the Jets. He was signed to take the roster spot of fellow linebacker Yannik Cudjoe-Virgil, who was placed on season-ending injured reserve.

The 6-foot-2, 249-pound Tavai signed with the Titans in May after spending two seasons as a starter with the Trojans. He was injured in Tennessee's preseason opener against the Atlanta Falcons and later waived with an injury settlement after being placed on injured reserve.

Tavai was re-signed to Tennessee's practice squad in November.
