The Chargers could have their big-ticket guard back soon

Published Nov. 17, 2015 8:43 p.m. ET

Orlando Franklin averaged over 1,000 snaps a season before landing in San Diego.

He's logged only 211 this year with a knee injury. And the veteran guard has missed one more game this year than in his previous four seasons combined.

“So it’s definitely been a frustrating year," Franklin told ESPN's Eric D. Williams. "And I definitely look forward to these next seven weeks, being able to be consistent and take every snap on offense.”

He's not too far off from that goal now. Franklin did individual work at Monday's practice and claims his knee feels better and better.

His team would feel better if he would just return. The Chargers haven't been able to lean on the duo of left tackle King Dunlap and left guard Franklin; they've worked together for only four games.

The good news? Franklin believes he'll be there for the team's final stretch.

“The good thing is it’s Week 10 and we just came off of the bye,” Franklin said. “What I’m looking forward to for the most part is just being consistent these next seven weeks out of myself and just being on the field and helping out my teammates."
