Whenever a team gets a new toy everyone always gets really excited. Well the Cardinals got a bunch of new toys this week and there is one person especially especially excited about it.

Cardinals strength and conditioning coach Buddy Morris said this when he saw the new $26 million, 9,000 square foot weight room for the first time:

“Every morning in my office, I look at (assistant strength and conditioning coach) Roger (Kingdom) and I’m like, ‘There’s so much more room for activities.'"

Bruce Arians said during the NFL Owners meetings that, it’s “the Taj Mahal of weight rooms in the NFL.”

“It really opens up and allows us to accommodate a lot more guys, do a lot more things, more than what we were capable of doing last year,” Morris said. “It’s really been a blessing because we can handle a greater volume of guys. We’re getting more work done in a shorter amount of time.

Since this is the first week of workouts for the Cardinals, some of the players are still trying to get used to the new digs as well.

Calais Campbell said, “I’m still trying to find my way around”. Tyrann Mathieu said, “It’s pretty cool. Obviously, it cost a lot of money but I think we put in the work the last couple of years. I think we deserve it so it’s great for us.”

Morris also went on to say that the players all came into these workouts in great shape already. “I’ve been very impressed with the accountability of this football team, and how these guys have shown up in shape already, which allows me to do more things with them. I can’t say enough about these guys and how they showed up this year.”

The Cardinals hope this new weight room will help prevent some of those injuries that occurred a year ago.
