Danny Trevathan has been champing at the bit to return to game action.

Finally, the Broncos linebacker will get his chance to suit up again. Trevathan is slated to play about 20 snaps against the San Francisco 49ers -- his first real game action since dislocating his kneecap last fall.

"The emotions are going to show on game day," Trevathan told ESPN's Jeff Legwold after Thursday's practice.

It'd be tough for the veteran to hold back this weekend. Since last season, he's had to work back from two separate leg fractures and that gruesome kneecap issue.

The Broncos will tread lightly. Head coach Gary Kubiak wants to see the Trevathan-Brandon Marshall tandem at full strength when the games actually count.

Said Trevathan: "I'm not going to say it was easy for me, but I had a strong support system and I just worked my tail off. Wherever I am I'm going to try to be the best person in that situation."
