Report: Danny Amendola is recovering from knee, ankle surgeries
Wide receiver Danny Amendola was happy to take a pay cut last week to remain with the New England Patriots, but he may have to wait a while to begin earning that lower salary.
Amendola is recovering from offseason surgeries on both his left knee and ankle, according to the Boston Herald.

He had both surgeries early in the offseason, but the Herald says the Patriots won’t rush him back to the field. They hope he’ll be ready for training camp in late July, but there’s no guarantee he’ll be set to go even by Week 1. Amendola simply had bone spurs removed in his ankle, but the knee surgery reportedly was to repair ligament damage that caused him to miss two games late last season.
Amendola, 30, was second on the Patriots in receptions (65) and third in receiving yards (648) last season. The receptions total was his highest since signing a five-year deal with the Patriots in 2013. He played his first four seasons with the Rams and established career highs of 85 catches and 689 receiving yards in 2010.
He won a Super Bowl with the Patriots in 2014 and doesn’t seem to want to play anywhere else.
"I spent so much time with these guys and put in so much work, and I love playing for Coach [Bill Belichick] and the staff and the best city in the country, so I'm excited to be back," he told 98.5 The Sports Hub last week after taking the $3.9 million pay cut.
New England’s other top wideout, Julian Edelman, recently had foot surgery, but reportedly will be ready for training camp.
